Gor Mahia have moved to cool intensifying transfer speculation, clarifying that no players have been officially signed or released.
The statement comes despite widespread reports linking the SportPesa League champions with several high-profile targets ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The club issued the clarification to address rumours regarding potential arrivals and departures as head coach Charles Akonnor prepares his squad for domestic competitions and the CAF Champions League.
The club stated in a release signed by secretary general Nicanor Arum that while it is true they have engaged a number of players as part of an ongoing planning and evaluation process, no player has been officially signed or released at this time.
Management urged supporters and stakeholders to disregard unverified information and speculation being shared across various platforms.
They emphasised their commitment to handling recruitment and squad management professionally, adding that any official developments regarding player arrivals, departures, or contract matters will be communicated strictly through official club channels.
Despite the club's caution, the record champions continue to be heavily linked with several players as they look to fill key gaps, most notably following the departure of former FKF Premier League MVP Enoch Morrison to Sudanese side Al Merrikh.
The goalkeeping department is one area expected to receive significant attention. AFC Leopards goalkeeper Humphrey Katasi has reportedly agreed in principle to join Gor Mahia once his contract expires at the end of June.
The club is also understood to be in advanced discussions with Equity FC shot-stopper Michael Onyango, who recently won the National Super League Golden Glove.
Additionally, young goalkeeper Ibrahim Wanzala has been linked to the champions, though sources fields indicate he currently remains on a shortlist being monitored by the technical bench.
In midfield, Nairobi United’s Enock Machaka is rumored to be close to a move, with Gor Mahia reportedly jumping ahead of AFC Leopards and Kenya Police FC in the race for his signature. The club is also actively hunting for attacking reinforcements.
Ulinzi Stars forward Paul Okoth, who finished second in the Golden Boot race last season, has reportedly held advanced, progressing talks with the Gor Mahia hierarchy.
Duncan Omala is another attacker linked with the club, though Gor Mahia may face stiff competition from foreign teams.
While transfer rumours dominate fan discussions, the club leadership, led by chairman Ambrose Rachier, vice chairperson Sally Bolo, Arum, and treasurer Gerphas Okuku, thanked supporters for their patience during this preparation phase, expressing appreciation for the continued trust as they work toward strengthening the team.
